View of Delft

About This Project

In View of Delft Vermeer presents a panoramic view of his home town on the river Schie. Marcel Proust said that this was the most beautiful painting in the world and a unique work of art in its genre.

During his stays in Delft, Montoya liked to recreate the movements that Vermeer would have followed to reach the place from which he painted this work. It took him six long months to carry out this painting and he was so involved in the task that he imagined Vermeer getting there every day, overcoming difficulties and storms to reach the place from which he managed to portray this wonderful View.
