The music lesson

About This Project

In The music lesson, Vermeer places the protagonists in the background, showcasing his excellent skill in working with perspectives, highlighted especially by the presence of the mirror.

Montoya includes a difference in this reproduction by portraying the girl’s face more clearly on the mirror; a face born in the Spanish painter’s imagination, whose admiration for Vermeer’s work led his hand to include this element.
