Study of a young woman

About This Project

The resemblance between the protagonists of Study of a young woman con la de A lady writing, have given rise to theories regarding whether in these paintings Vermeer was portraying someone close to him, perhaps his daughter or his own wife.

Although this isn’t considered to be one of the Dutch painter’s best works, Montoya was charmed by the tenderness in her gaze, encouraging him to carry out this faithful reproduction.
